More rain today. And as I sit in our study room and look outside, I can see into the small stores lining the alley outside our apartment building.
It’s getting colder now and it’s going to get a lot colder still. I always feel sorry for the people who have to sit in those small shops and pass the days by playing with their cell phones or taking naps. It’s not comfortable.
Perhaps they don’t feel it like that. Chinese culture seems to be very different from western culture in its notion of comfort. Having to wile away my days like that would depress me to no end. It doesn’t seem to make them unhappy at all, however.
